About Kemerovo State Medical University
Kemerovo State Medical University (KSMU) was founded in 1955 and is considered the largest and most renowned medical university in the Kuzbass region (or Kemerovo region) of Siberia, Russia. The educational institution is a Federal State Budget Educational Institution working under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and is located on the banks of the Tom River about 3,630 km from Moscow.
After the institute had expanded into graduate programs, advanced medical research, and several clinical specializations, it was upgraded to the status of a university in 2004. Currently, about 4,500 students from 38 different countries study at the university, and more than 300 Indian students have graduated with their MBBS degrees since 2008. In 2025, the university marked its 70-year jubilee with the opening of a brand-new simulation and skills training center thanks to the sponsorship of the Kemerovo region.
