Frequently Asked Questions — MBBS Abroad 2026-27

Real answers to the questions Indian students ask most about MBBS abroad.

Is NEET compulsory for MBBS abroad in 2026?
Yes. As per National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations, every Indian student must qualify NEET-UG to study MBBS abroad and to be eligible for the FMGE/NExT licensing exam on return. Without a valid NEET qualification, you cannot obtain the Eligibility Certificate or practise medicine in India — regardless of which country you study in.
Which is the cheapest country for MBBS abroad?
Countries like Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are among the most affordable, with total course fees ranging from roughly ₹20–₹35 Lakhs including tuition. Russia and Egypt also offer excellent value. The "cheapest" choice depends on tuition, living costs, NMC recognition and FMGE pass rates — our counsellors help you balance all four for your budget.
Are MBBS degrees from abroad valid in India?
Yes — provided the university is NMC-approved and WHO-listed. After graduating, you must clear the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination), or the upcoming NExT (National Exit Test), to obtain a licence to practise in India. Always confirm your university is on the NMC list before enrolling, as degrees from non-approved institutions are not recognised.
Do I need IELTS or TOEFL for MBBS abroad?
No. Most NMC-approved universities in Russia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Egypt and Uzbekistan do not require IELTS or TOEFL for Indian students, as courses are taught in English. This is one of the biggest advantages of studying MBBS abroad. A few universities or countries may ask for it, so it is best to confirm the specific requirement before applying.
What is the total cost including living expenses?
For most popular destinations, the all-in cost — tuition plus hostel and living expenses for the full course — typically ranges from ₹25 Lakhs to ₹45 Lakhs. This is a fraction of the ₹50 Lakhs to over ₹1 Crore charged by private medical colleges in India. Exact figures vary by country, city and university, and our counsellors provide a clear year-wise breakdown.
Can I do my internship in India after MBBS abroad?
The mandatory rotatory internship can be completed either in the country of study or in India at an NMC-approved hospital, in line with NMC guidelines. Many students choose to complete their internship after clearing the FMGE/NExT in India. The internship must meet NMC's minimum duration requirements to count towards your registration.
How do I verify if a foreign university is NMC-approved?
Visit the official NMC website (nmc.org.in) and check the "Foreign Medical Graduates" section, which lists recognised universities and the latest regulations. Always verify directly on the NMC portal before paying any fees. Aspiring Life only recommends 100% NMC-approved universities, so your degree is valid for FMGE/NExT and practice in India.
