About Tashkent State Dental Institute

Tashkent State Dental Institute (TSDI) was formally established on July 22, 2014, as an independent higher education institution based on the Tashkent Medical Academy. Its roots, however, trace back much further — to 1930, when it originated as the Central Asian Medical Institute, founded during the Soviet era to address a critical shortage of qualified medical professionals in the Central Asian region. In 1955, a dedicated Stomatology (Dentistry) Faculty was established, and the institution was reorganized and renamed Tashkent State Dental Institute in 1964, developing a specialized focus on dental and oral-maxillofacial medicine while continuing its MBBS program.

Today, TSDI comprises seven faculties offering comprehensive programs in dentistry, general medicine, and international education. The institute currently enrolls over 5,700 students including 273 PhD scholars, representing multiple nationalities. TSDI received WHO recognition in 1978 and gained NMC recognition in 2002, opening doors for Indian medical aspirants. The campus on Makhtumkuli Street in Tashkent city features state-of-the-art laboratories, modern dental clinics, a well-stocked library, and comfortable hostels for international students.
