About Suez University

Suez University was established as an independent governmental university by Presidential Decree No. 193 in 2012, making it the first university established by presidential decree after the January 25th Revolution in Egypt. Prior to its independence, it had been a branch of the Suez Canal University since 2006, which itself was founded in 1976 to serve the Canal region.

Today, Suez University comprises 12 faculties, including Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Education, Industrial Education, Commerce, Science, Fish Resources, Arts, Economics and Political Sciences, Computer and Information Science, Media and Mass Communication, Medicine, and Engineering. With approximately 12,350 students and over 5,000 teaching staff members, the university is among Egypt's top scientific educational institutions. Suez — Al-Suways in Arabic — is a vital port city 130 km from Cairo, known for its petroleum refineries, canal workshops, and rich cultural heritage.
