About International University of Gorazde
International University of Gorazde (IUG) was founded in 2014 by Edina Brutus and Dr. Emir Duranović, making it the first private university in the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton (BPK) region. Located in the city of Goražde along the Drina River in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, IUG was established with the mission to develop higher education and research within BPK — and beyond the region — by supporting economic, social, and cultural growth.
Since its first student intake in the 2015–2016 academic year, IUG has grown rapidly to offer 18 programs across four faculties, including Medical Sciences, Technical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Educational Sciences. The university conducts classes in Bosnian, English, and Turkish, making it genuinely accessible to international students. IUG follows the Bologna Process (I, II, and III cycle diplomas), uses four specialist health-science laboratories, and has signed cooperation agreements with hospitals in Germany and Austria offering direct employment pathways for nursing graduates. A new university building construction began in 2020 to expand campus capacity.
